You may be experiencing the inability to perform a long press on Switch Control with the Tecla Shield now that the iOS settings have changed. Long Press was release with iOS 9, and prior to that, the Tecla Shield had its own long press feature to perform actions like Home, Siri, etc. The additional Tecla Shield feature is no longer necessary, but the of settings may activate that feature by mistake.
To test, you can use manual scanning and set a switch to be "Move to Next Item" and a long press for "Home." When you press this switch, the Switch Control frame should move. If the frame moves when you release the switch during a long press instead of going home, you need to do a couple of configurations to turn off the Tecla Shield long press.
Instructions:
- Ensure Tecla Shield is connected to the device in Switch Control mode (pale purple light slowly fading on and off)
- Use a pointed object (e.g. a pen) to press the "-" button at least 25 times (that would ensure to are turning off the hold, there are 25 programmable hold times).
- Test your device using manual scanning. Actions should occur on the initial press instead of release and iOS's long press should work.
