How do I know which mode to put my Tecla Shield in?

When you first turn on your Tecla Shield, the status indicator light will start to blink. The colour of the blinking indicates the current mode. You can change the mode as described here, but first, you will want to decide which mode is right for you.

Watch the video explanation here.

Here's a quick guide on the various modes available, depending on your device and preferences:

Switch Control Mode = white light

This mode works in combination with Apple's Switch Control (available on iOS 7 and above) and Android Switch Access (available on Android 6 and above) accessibility features. With this mode, you can assign each switch connected to the Tecla Shield to a specific action, such as "Select Item." To set up your device in Switch Control Mode, follow these directions for iOS 9, Android, and Mac OS

Android Mode = green light

This is the mode to access and control Android devices. It works in combination with the Tecla Access app, available for free for download in the Google Play Store. To set up your device in Android Mode, follow these instructions.

App Control Mode = blue light

This mode can be used with "switch accessible" iOS apps that use 'space' and 'enter' as switch inputs. To set up your device in App Control Mode, follow these instructions.

iOS Classic Mode = purple light

This mode uses Apple's VoiceOver feature. It allows for linear scanning navigation (i.e., next/previous item) and works in all iOS versions. To set up your device in iOS Classic Mode, follow these instructions.

iOS 4-Way Mode = pink light

Like the iOS Classic mode, this mode uses VoiceOver to control the device, but you can move in four directions instead of linearly. It is especially useful when used with a joystick or multiple switches. To set up your device in iOS 4-Way Mode, follow these instructions.

Mouse Keys Mode = aqua light

This mode works in combination with MouseKeys in Mac and Windows computers, allowing the user to control the mouse pointer with multiple switches. To set up your device in Mouse Keys Mode, follow these instructions for Mac and Windows
